inspiration

I want to take this opportunity to share some of my favourite quotes and inspiration with you.

I believe words can be extremely powerful and their subjective nature allows you to interpret them in a way that helps you understand the world and yourself a little better.

I hope you enjoy them and please feel free to share your favourite quotes with me.

Quotes:

‘Levin said what he had really been thinking lately. He saw either death or the approach of it everywhere. But his undertaking now occupied him all the more. He had to live his life to the end, until death came. Darkness covered everything for him; but precisely because of this darkness he felt that his undertaking was the only guiding thread in this darkness, and he seized it and held onto it with all his remaining strength.’ – Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina (2003) Penguin Classics, p.352

‘Oh, she had been broken. She hid it well, but Ross knew from personal experience that once you had put the pieces back together, even though they might look intact, you were never quite the same as you’d been before the fall.’
– Jodi Picoult, Second Glance (2003) Allen and Unwin, p.87

‘Sometimes, divine revelation simply means adjusting your brain to hear what your heart already knows.’
– Dan Brown, Angels and Demons (2001) Corgi Books, p.532

‘No matter undesirable the behaviour of others is, we have to realise that they are just like us, people struggling to find meaning and purpose in their lives. They are simply behaving in the the only way that they know how to overcome the anxiety of the struggle.’
– Unknown

We hold onto the world because that’s all we know.
But the world is constantly changing, nothing is permanent.
We can’t hold onto things that are changing all the time.
Let it be.
Emotions change, concepts change, every seven years the whole body is completely new. The water drop falls on a leaf and slowly rolls off.
The water drop says, either I’m on a leaf, in a lake or in the clouds, it doesn’t matter.
I know who I am.’
– Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda

‘In the end, the most important thing is to be true to yourself and those you love and work hard. I mean, work like there’s not tomorrow. Train. Strive. I mean, really train and cultivate your talent to the highest degree. Be the best at what you do. Get to know more about your field than anybody alive. Use the tools of your trade, if it’s books or a floor to dance on or a body of water to swim in. Whatever it is, it’s yours. That’s what I’ve always tried to remember.’
– Michael Jackson, Moon walk (1988) pp. 209- 210
