42. Time to shine (poem)

Time to shine
By Danielle N. Bilski

We don’t do it for the fame
We do it because it is a part of us
Without it we wouldn’t be the same

We don’t see it as an impossibility
We see it for what is really is
An unbelievable opportunity

We don’t think it is a big ask
We know it is what we were born to do
A chance we won’t let pass

We don’t take the time for granted
We give everything we have and more
No call to us goes unanswered

We don’t rest our heads
We persevere with intention
Until the very end

We don’t sacrifice our integrity
We hold ourselves responsible
Be the change in the world we want to see

Yesterday was then
Today is now
Tomorrow we’ll do it all over again

Separately there is yours and there is mine
Together we achieve more
While we all choose our own time to shine.

41. Cloud covered stars (poem)

~Written by Danielle N. Bilski ~

Cloud covered stars
By Danielle N. Bilski

We cannot always see them
Though we know they are there
Sometimes it seems like there are millions
A shooting one is rare
To make our dreams come true
We are told to make a wish
A moment of hope before the clouds appear
Covering the chance we might have otherwise missed.
Every now and again
The brightest will reveal itself
Like witnessing a miracle
Its presence is widely felt
Because there are so many
It can be difficult to find
Sometimes it may even take
Looking of a different kind.
Although your favourite one
May seem to be countless light-years away
Let it be your guide
From which you try to not stray
Sparkling so bright among all rest
A silent reminder that through the darkness light prevails
For as long as time exists
They will continue to share their tales.
Archers who chase scorpions
Around the Milky Way
Orion’s belt to the Southern Cross
A game of ‘Join the dots’ to play
Reflecting off the Hollywood sign
Wishing we would only see
Through the blinding light of currency
The real stars wait behind the clouds, humble and patiently.

40. One year, month, week and perfect day

~Written by Danielle N. Bilski ~

It is incredible how much of a difference one day can make to your entire life! Last week I was quite stressed as I was searching online for a job that would allow me to continue writing while addressing my other less creative, one might argue, more essential needs for daily survival – food, transport etc. For me, my writing and the sense of fulfillment I get from it is absolutely priceless and those who know me personally can vouch for me in that respect! However, the reality of not having a regular income, especially after five months of putting ‘My Time with You’ as my highest priority and having been dedicated to getting the plot outline for ‘My Time with You’ to a place where I could allow other things into my life with the confidence that they would not have a negative affect on me achieving the goal I have already set for myself. Last Wenesday I applied for three jobs; two part time and one full time position.

On Friday I received a phone call that has significantly changed my life and has turned out to be the opportunity I have been looking for. It will allow me to balance both my writing and other personal goals with a career in which I have the chance to utilise the skills and experience I have developed in my professional life. I am aware that not everyone has the ability to do what they love in order to survive and having worked for more than 10 years I have had my fair share of mornings when I would rather stay in bed.

Having said that, I have never lost focus on what I wanted to do with my life and have turned every experience I have had into a positive one that has contributed to my journey and brought me to where I am now; by motivating me to strive for something more and/or given me the essential skills I needed to overcome the moments I questioned my abilities.

I feel like one of the luckiest people in the world right now to be able to go to work every day surrounded by passionate, enthusiastic, professional people who know how to have fun, get paid to help other people achieve their own personal goals, be rewarded for the work that I do and have my writing and who I am as a person be valued  as much as the work that I am required to do. The last few months haven’t been easy, but I wouldn’t have changed a thing! I truly believe I am exactly where I am supposed to be and I am so grateful to have shared every moment of it with you.

Life gives you what you need at any given time, it is moments like this that show me that if you are grateful for getting what you need and you do everything you can to strive for what you want it will eventually come to you, perhaps in a way that you never expected and at a time when you thought that it might never come.

In one year I have spent time with you that has given me purpose, fulfillment and a chance to share my words with someone other than myself. I have completed an entire plot outline for a novel and if nothing else, proved to myself that I can achieve anything and everything I set my mind, my heart and my life to with pure intention. Thank you for sharing your time with me! I am forever and unconditionally grateful to you for making the clear ink turn black each and every time you read my words. I have found a indescribable peace within myself and it has transcended infinitely throughout every aspect of my life.

In one month since MTWYcomau celebrated its first birthday, more and more people have begun to read my writing and show their support. Thank you so much! In this time I have separated each chapter into a comprehensive mini project to focus on which has allowed me to seek additional activities beyond my writing and streamline my writing schedule to put in place a more definite time line towards completion.

In one week I have found a full time job that fits perfectly into my creative life and even in the last seven days it has given me a sense of purpose beyond my writing, being a valuable and unique member of a team that recognises my strengths and rewards my efforts, values fun and passion as well as the desire to genuinely help others and provide me with financial stability and future career progression. Being willing to learn and open to sharing my skills in a positive environment, I believe I have been rewarded with everything I have wanted and been working towards. I had time to enjoy my favourite music, the city I live in, time with some of the most special people in my life and clarity of where I am and where I want to be; right here.

While I realise that nothing is ever perfect and that perfection is relative, I have to say that yesterday would have to have been the most perfect day I could have ever asked for!! I worked, I learned, I spent time with someone very special, I slept in this morning and have the ultimate gift of perspective.

I am not telling you all of this to brag or to make you jealous, I feel I should make that clear. I simply wanted to show you that if you believe enough in yourself and what you want out of your life, if you are at peace with yourself and those around you and you walk through every moment of your life with your eyes wide open to the possibilities the world offers, when the right opportunity comes to you then you are able recognise it and appreciate it for everything it is!

The moral of this story is to “Keep the Faith” as Michael Jackson sings in my absolute favourite song. Learn to value your time with yourself and the world will begin to value it too.

Virtuous happiness and seeing every day as a gift to share with you,
