~ Written by Danielle N. Bilski ~
It has been an interesting month. Finding the time to write has been difficult, but yesterday I spent the entire afternoon working on the prologue for ‘My Time With You’.
Currently at 1,145 words it doesn’t seem long enough to me, but they are all words that I have chosen carefully, with sincerity and intent that make me feel so excited to continue writing with confidence.
A few months ago I posted that I had completed the first 1K words of the novel, but since then I have been doing a lot more research and reflection. I have decided to express the narrative from a different character’s point-of-view, however it is a character that has existed since the very beginning of this project. I just feel that the story can be better told by them and can therefore lead us on a more unique journey to an unknown destination.
I am also excited to announce that ‘My Time With You’ has recently expanded its online network:
You can now follow my journey through ‘My Time With You’ in real time on Twitter at https://twitter.com/MTWYcomau
You won’t have to wait for the next blog post to see what has been happening in the writing process.
I am also working on making this site more interactive for you, as your feedback and interest is an important part of the project and its existence. *Watch this space*
‘My Time With You’ is such a big part of me and I can’t wait to share it with you. To be honest with you, I was initially a bit anxious about actually beginning to write. As a perfectionist I wanted it to be as polished as I envisioned, from the moment the words touched the screen. Although I always knew that this was an unrealistic expectation of myself, it still made it challenging for me to hear our protagonist’s words clearly. However, now that I have sat down and really listened and given them the time that they deserve, their voice is resounding with all the curiousness I thought I needed to create; all on its own.
My plan is to proofread a few pages as I go, so it is not such a big job at the end and I can focus more on the content rather than being distracted by inappropriate spelling, punctuation and grammar. That’s just me and my perfectionism; I will allow myself these small maintenance duties as they are required. Hopefully they will fulfill my desire.
Thank you for your time with me, wherever you are.
